APS serves more than 90,000 children in 131 schools. The Albuquerque Public School district is one of the largest in the country encompassing 1,230 square miles. APS has a drop-out rate of 3.7%, below the national average of 4.0%. La Cueva High School journalism, humanities and social studies teacher, Pat Graff, is the first teacher from New Mexico, and one of only 5 teachers in the United States this year, to be named to the National Teacher Hall of Fame. With more than 12,500 employees, APS has 6,276 teachers and only 78 administrators. APS received ‘What Parents Want’ Award from SchoolMatch, the nation’s largest school selection consulting firm. Only 16% of the nations’ more than 15,000 school districts have received this recognition.
